The S-Hoop(TM) is a patented new
drum hoop designed by the President and Founder of Safehoop Company,
Rick Barrickman.. Shortly after that he was awarded at patent for
the design and The Safehoop Company was formed. The S-Hoop has many
advantages to offer every drummer no matter what level of player
they may be. The S-Hoop is like a triple flange hoop except with a
different design.
From this new design came an
overlying edge that turns in and bevels down towards the drum head
covering the bearing edge and leaving plenty of room for different
tuning tensions. This added steel density made the hoop more rigid
like a die-cast hoop therefore giving it the consistent tuning characterisitcs of a
die-cast hoop. This new design also gives the S-Hoop a
smoother playing surface for rim-shots and side stick
creating less impact to the hands and wrist. The patented
design allows the toms to sing more and give's the snare a
fatter sound than hoops of previous design. We like to call
it a "Best of Both World's Hoop" because it incorporates all
the characteristics of a die-cast hoop and a triple flange
hoop all in one. People will find that the S-Hoop is
definatley a unique product.
I recently purchased an
inexpensive drumset for my studio so students of all ages
could play them (rather than my vintage sets) and I wouldn't
have to worry about how well they took care of the drums.
The set is a Sonor Bop set... It is a very nice looking
drumset - better than I expected. Anyway, the snare sound
was awful... Until I installed the 24-strand, dual
adjustable Fat Cat snappy snares and "S" hoop. Now the drum
sounds so good I am keeping the set for my own jazz gigs.

Hi folks my name is Michael
Zagon I"am a freelance drummer and drumteacher from germany..
I use an S Hoop for my dw snare and the sidestick sound is
amazing. The rimshots come with more attack .. That"s
awesome the hole sound changes-- Thanks ..
I've been a professional
drummer for over 33 years. I put an S-hoop on my snare and
noticed a really nice difference in the sound. It seemed to
"clean up" the sound quite a bit, eliminating some of those
high frequencies, focusing the sound without volume loss and
allowing for a much fatter cross stick sound. I really like
it. Thanks!!--Clint from PA
Just received and installed a
14” 10 hole S-Hoop on a 5 x 14” maple. This is a great
product and as advertised. LOVE the cross stick! Mark Filling
